Temporary Resident Visa Canada
A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is a document placed in your passport that indicates you have met the requirements to enter Canada as a temporary resident. It is commonly referred to as a Visitor's Visa and is issued by a visa office. The TRV allows for a maximum stay of 6 months, and the immigration officer must be satisfied that the applicant will leave Canada at the end of their stay. All individuals, except Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and US citizens, require either a TRV or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to enter Canada as a visitor.
Temporary Resident Visa Canada Extension
If you are in Canada on a temporary resident visa and wish to extend your stay, you must submit an application 30 days prior to the expiration of your current status. While your application is being processed, your original status as a visitor will continue under the same conditions. However, it's important to note that your temporary resident status cannot exceed the validity of your passport, so make sure your passport is valid for the same amount of time as your requested extension.
