INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION STRATEGY - (2019-2024)
- Sosaan Immigration
The International Education Strategy (IES), Building on Success, was launched with the conjunction of Global Affairs Canada, Employment and Social Development Canada and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
In 2019, more than 642,000 international students studied in Canada. International students who have Canadian education qualifications and in-demand labour skills, and are proficient in either English or French, are often ideal candidates for Permanent Residency.
The Student Direct Stream which was established in June 2018, an expedited study permit application stream for International Students who want to pursue higher education in Canada, is another way students can get study permits to Canada. Depending on country of residents, students applying through this stream could potentially receive their study permits within 20 calendar days. This stream has been expanded to additional countries.
Strong schools and programs of study in both English and French, welcoming and diverse communities and opportunities to start careers and pursue Permanent Residency makes Canada a destination of choice for international students.
International Experience Canada (IEC) is another program that has been expanded under the IES strategy. This program enables Canadians and Foreigners who are between the ages of 18 and 35 to work and travel in more than 30 partnering countries.
